I would like to invite you to a an extraordinary AOTP annual general meeting at 1830 on Monday the 19th of November 2018 at the HSU offices 8 Coolgardie Terrace, Perth WA 6000.
The AOTP committee has been in discussion with the AAAHP and feel that the time is right for us to merge our organisations. By becoming a true National organisation, we will benefit by having education consistent with the other States while strengthening our professions position in the battle for us to become recognised as a registered profession.
Some of the current AOTP committee have agreed to work with the AAAHP and form a WA educational working party to assist the WA AAAHP representatives to ensure the continuation of first class education for Anaesthetic Technicians in WA. To make this a smooth and beneficial transition we will need to dissolve the AOTP and transfer any remaining funds to the AAAHP for WA educational use. I have personally discussed with the AAAHP President Ms Vicki Swaine that the remaining AOTP funds will be allocated to WA. All existing AOTP and WA AAAHP members will benefit from the amalgamation
The AAAHP has committed to providing 2 education days a year in WA and all other Australian states as well as their Annual Conference which will be hosted in Cairns in 2019 and Perth in 2020.
With this proposal all current AOTP members will become full AAAHP members funded by the AOTP. All past AOTP members will be contacted via email and offered membership to the AAAHP funded by the AOTP.
According to our constitution to go ahead with this we need to have an AGM to discuss this and have a member vote. I would like the members to vote on 2 things.
1.) Change 27.B of our constitution allowing our remaining funds to be used for educational purposes for WA anaesthetic technicians from reading.
a) If on the winding up or dissolution of the Association there remains after the satisfaction of all its debts and liabilities any property whatsoever, the same shall not be paid to or distributed among the Members of the Association but shall be given or transferred to the Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service, Telethon - Princess Margaret Hospital.
b) If on the winding up or dissolution of the Association there remains after the satisfaction of all its debts and liabilities any property whatsoever, the same shall not be paid to or distributed among the Members of the Association but shall be given or transferred to the AAAHP to be used for continuing education among WA Anaesthetic technicians
2.) Vote on 27.A Confirmation to dissolve the AOTP.
I have asked for Sharon Wylie who is the current AAAHP Public Relations Officer and WA Representative to attend the meeting to help answer any questions you may have about the AAAHP.
